ePO Application Server Service (Tomcat) shuts down shortly after starting due to a port conflict

The ePO Application Server Service starts successfully, but soon after shuts down (usually within 1–3 minutes) due to a port conflict.

The stderr.log (ePO_installation_folder\server\logs)

file records a message similar to the following:

SEVERE: StandardServer.await: create[localhost:8005]:
java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind

NOTE: The port, listed in the example as 8005, can vary depending on the environment. If the

Address already in use: JVM_Bind

message exists in the stderr.log

file, this article applies. The default value for modern versions of ePO is 9000.

Solution 1

    Go to ePO_installation_directory\server\conf\

  1. Press Windows+R.
  2. Type services.msc into the field and press Enter.
  3. Right-click each of the following ePO service and select Restart:
